Payton Pritchard played in 79 of Boston's 82 games last season, and the workload is the story. He averaged 32.4 minutes, behind only Derrick White's 34.1 among players who appeared in at least 20 games, and he made 50 starts.

He used the time. Pritchard averaged 17.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists, shooting 46.4% from the field, 37.7% from three and 89.0% from the line. His true shooting percentage was 58.4%, a mark that is usually considered above average.

The contract

Pritchard is paid $7,767,857 this season and $8,303,571 in 2027-28. Our Bargain Board tracks how his output compares with that salary once the season starts.

What to watch

  • Whether Boston keeps his minutes near 32 with Mike Conley added behind him.
  • How the backcourt splits time with Derrick White and Conley.
  • Pritchard didn't play in the preseason opener, so there is no new data yet.
