Editorial Standards and Corrections

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Celtics Crew aims to be the fan publication you can quote. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.

Accuracy

  • Two-source rule for contracts and cap figures. Every salary, option, year and cap number on the Site is checked against at least two independent public sources before it is published. When sources disagree, we go with the primary reporting and note the conflict internally.
  • Stats come from official box scores. Season and game statistics are compiled from official NBA box-score data. Derived numbers such as per-36 rates, true shooting and our Bargain Board are calculated by us, and the method is published on the page.
  • We say when something isn't known. If a figure hasn't been published, we say so rather than guess, and only after we have checked the available sources.
  • Updated dates. Data pages show when they were last verified.

Original work

All writing, graphics and analysis are original. We do not rewrite or copy other outlets' articles.

News sourcing

We follow reputable outlets, including team and league sources, local Boston media and national coverage, to know what is happening. When a story starts with someone else's reporting, we say who reported it, link to them, and add what our own data shows. We quote only short phrases, with credit. Anything not confirmed by the team, the league or a box score is labeled as reported, and we look for a second independent source before publishing it as news. We do not publish rumors, anonymous accusations, or allegations about anyone's health or private life as fact. We do not copy photographs we don't have the right to use, so our visuals are charts, graphics and licensed or free-to-use images. Official video is embedded from its owner's channel.

Use of automation and AI

We use software, including AI assistance, to gather data and to help draft routine content such as game previews, recaps and statistical summaries. A human editor reviews and approves what we publish, and is responsible for it. AI is not used to invent quotes, sources or statistics. Posts created with AI assistance are held to the same accuracy standards as everything else.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly. Corrections are made in the article, and for substantive errors we add a note at the bottom stating what changed and when. To report an error, email contact@celticscrew.com with the page address and what you believe is wrong.

Independence and conflicts

We are an independent publication, not affiliated with the Boston Celtics or the NBA. Advertisers and sponsors have no say in our coverage (see our Advertising and Sponsorship Disclosure). If we have a financial or personal interest in something we cover, we will disclose it.

Respect

We cover professional athletes and teams, and we aim to keep coverage fair. Our statistical tools are meant to celebrate performance and spark debate, not to ridicule individual players, and we provide context such as injuries and contract type next to the numbers.
